completely agree with the writter the mmr system is seriosly fucked up. First of all why the hell valve have a secret alighoritem to determinate mmr in the first unranked matches , i mean wtf how were we suppsed to know that. i play dota since in dota 1 and than started dota 2 playing just for fun sure and i calibrated in my first acc about 2k. and all the time i thought that only those 10 calibrating games have to do about your mmr, and was fucking get stucked with retard people from all around the world ( just europe west in fact), than only about 3 years of playing dota 2 i discovered about unranked hidden mmr, because it is fucking hidden and thats why it took 3 years till i noticed accidentaly about that after i created a new acc and calibrated to 3 k, cause i droped in 1.2 kin the first one. and thats how i discovered about smurfs and dottabuf. and this is 1 of my smurfs thati calibrated 2.5 and i gave this to a friend of mine which is new in dota which he is playing actually with this acc. i gave this to him causei thought i can calibrate higgher and i would not accept no cmurf below 4 k. but gues wahti discovered after that. The fucking valve folloow your ip and and whatever i do wil not get me that much higher than my main acc., i figured out this cause isaw many plaers starting in vhs and me try a lot smurfs only for like the first 10 games, and stomped rly hard mostyly of those games with rampages and any other stats better than others , gues waht still nrm ,cause my main its 2 k and valve will consider that.So the point is cause of this fucked system i have to play with 2k-3k players max, that i can calibrate with this ip, for me 99% of the players in those brackets are fucking retards andi mean it they retards for real, or highly stupid at least, cause the things they know about dota and the way the play now, i used to fo better than them since in dota 1. but the are so dumb that even the suck at dota they will not hear you and that way the drag you down so my theori is that in at least below 4-5, doesnt matter how good can 1 be , those games no one win, no one can win even miracle, in those kinds of games are only loosers gues waht cause in the end will if you win you actually didn't but was your enemy that sucked more tham your team in dota and they lost it you didnt win shit, cause you cant win even if your , miracle or sinsing or purge or dendi doesn't matter at all. in the end will win the team that have les retards in and not who have the best player. and thnx to valve fucked up system i have to deal with them now.
are these guys for real? I am 5.5 and playing a friends account from time to time who is 2.7k. I played like 15 games and didnt lose once. Kda is like 15.0. ppl are so fucking there you literally cant lose if u have a brain. you guys are just utter garbage. Add me or some other decent player and go 1v1 then you will see the difference
Wow seriously? So much nonsense, stop wasting your time OP.
I smurfed a friends account from 200 MMR to 1.7k, the winrate was 88%. It could have been a lot higher, but I didn't fully tryhard, I picked stuff like naga sometimes etc, which aren't reliable. Constantly getting 30 kills and shit, heavily outplaying.
I've also EASILY smurfed my friends account from 2.2k to 3.3k. It's still easy. I won around 80% of the games if not more.
I am 4.6k. There is an obvious skill difference in only 500 MMR. Stop being delusional. You can't get above a 50% winrate because you're outskilled, simple as that.
Wow this guy is still complaining? Dude you have to understand that a majority of pros are playing dota for YEARS. You can get unlucky and lose maybe 100 mmr because of your mates but if you are good you climb, that's all.

He has 1.1k mmr on ursa, and made the ursa look like TRASH. He stomped a rubick, earthshaker and ursa lane all by himself. He proceeded to stomp the rest of the game and make 5k players look like 2ks. You know why the 5ks played badly? It's not because MMR means nothing, IT'S BECAUSE SKILL IS RELATIVE. A 5K player does not hold up to a 8K player at all, as evident from this match. https://yasp.co/matches/2471254865 (dotabuff link as well http://www.dotabuff.com/matches/2471254865)
A 5K player isn't necessarily bad, 5K's are pretty good. But to a 6K player? 7K? 8K? 5K players just aren't good enough relative to themselves. There's a huge skill difference, but you see, OP, when you say "I see 6k players and they play like a 4K?" It's not that the 6K is playing like a 4K, it's that he's playing vs higher MMR players. This is what you're not skilled enough to comprehend, this is why your perspective is so delusional. You literally don't know enough about dota to accurately analyze what is happening. YOU DON'T KNOW ANYTHING!
As someone else here has said, you want to be one of the greats without working at it. Guess what? Those 6k, 7k, 8k players? They've been playing for fucking YEARS, sometimes even a decade. They didn't just shit out their 6K mmr, they didn't just get lucky. That's bullshit. Most of these guys have literally years of dota gameplay under their belts. And you may think "Oh, I've been playing for like 5 years now though" -- BUT do you play literally every day, all day? Have you accumulated literally years worth of in-game time? These players have, that's why they're so good.
Sorry, but skill doesn't just fall out of the sky and into your lap. It takes actual effort, and lots and lots of time. You can keep playing the blame game and desperately trying to find reasons why you are so special, like your mommy has told you, right? Reasons why you're an amazing transhuman god and your team is always just a bunch of subhuman primates.
When I smurf in lower MMR's, you know what I see in the players? A whole lot of nothing. Smokes don't get used. Items aren't used. Spells aren't used. Towers aren't hit. Just a whole lot of nothing. Super impactless, mechanically sloppy, slow farming delusional players, all around. Some of them think they're actually good, but they seriously aren't. And low mmr players wonder why they can't get out of their mmr.
There is no trench, you belong where you are. That's all you need to know.
And to the person who reccomended Chi Long Qua, I have seen 95% of his videos. I literally found chi long qua after I youtube searched "dota 2 is rigged" about 1.5 years ago.

You think that I don't realize this? The thing is, I see the same "dillusional" players in 5k+ games. I see the same fucking shit in high mmr games. People being useless, doing nothing, picking badly and playing mediocre,not smoking, feeding repeatedly. You literally are ignoring the points that I have made and manipulating them to sound like I don't know what I am talking about. Even in 7k mmr gamse there are players who look like plants that feed and do useless shit all game.
I am 4.6k. There is an obvious skill difference in only 500 MMR. Stop being delusional. You can't get above a 50% winrate because you're outskilled, simple as that.
Not true at all, 1k mmr games mean nothing and anyone can get a 10.0+ kd on 1k games who isnt retarded. 1k games don't pay money. 1k games don't haev anything to do with TI players and people who have ridiculous high mmr who have 10k viewers on streams.
Like I have literally gotten to VHS games, and my teams mmrs are all below 2k and somehow dotabuff calls this VHS. I look their gpm and stats and they have like 300 gpm. There is no explanation why a VHS game could have 2k and 1k mmr players on my team. They play heroes who are carry as well, still have 300 gpm.
Dude, you know high mmr players have smurfs where they climb to 7 - 8K with ease? Waga has a 7.5k+ smurf (he's 8K), He calibrated at 4.9k at max, and he made it to 7.5k on his smurf? Really, how do you explain that? He's just getting lucky again? When a 8k player wins mid easily vs 6k players it's just luck?
Like, how arrogant and ignorant are you? The proof is right in your face. There's no theory to talk about.
Carrying 4 retards isn't easy, but that's dota. If you can't handle it, then you belong where you are. If you don't enjoy it, then quit dota, because that is dota in a nutshell. Remember, you don't climb by being "good," you climb by being significantly better.
Btw, I didn't get to 4.6k in an instant. I spent lots of time to climb out of 2k and 3k, it used to be hard for me. Now it's easy. I improved. I realize now, looking back, that I used to suck a lot, especially when I see my old replays. Like, you have to suck a lot to stay stuck in 3k. Seriously.
I remember when I climbed to 4.1 ~ 4.2k and played a 3.8k party game, I was amazed at how much they sucked relative to me. I only climbed a few hundred mmr, but the skill difference in such a small mmr range was very obvious.
MMR means something. Whether you want to believe that or not, that's the objective truth.
Dude, you know high mmr players have smurfs where they climb to 7 - 8K with ease? Waga has a 7.5k+ smurf (he's 8K), He calibrated at 4.9k at max, and he made it to 7.5k on his smurf? Algorithms.
You really think they don't have a way to recognize if someone is on a smurf?
Stomped 3 games, 2 of them "high skill" and then get placed in more normal skill games.
This is what the game does, it just constantly puts me with low skill players nomadder how hard I stomp people. Eventually I just cant take it and ragequit.
VHS is from 3k8 > 5854648656K so if he's 4k8 it will take 40 loses streak for him to get back on HS. + starcraft doesnt matter when you play dota, even if its a hard game, its nothing in dota. You are in 3k > you deserve to be there untill you improve. Aaron said all IMO
The reason you went into N O R M A L L S K I L L (where you belong anyways) is simple. Captainsmode has a WAY Lower playerbase, meaning the MMR spread will get higher. The playerbase is so small, that even 6k players in ranked get into high skill games. If i remember correcly Sam got into 3.4k avg game with his 6k account a long ass time ago. The game after your non captainsmode games was very high, because the playerbase was normal again.
you just like to bitch about things you do not understand. To good players, such as myself, you are pretty much like a child who tells adult people that math sucks because you don't understand it.
cos 3 games is not a significant enough sample size. congrats, you can beat monkeys who can barely operate keyboards. that doesn't mean you're 7k mmr.
I can beat any player, with teamwork. I can win any lane at least 50% against any player. ESP if I had a few games practice against them. It takes me a few games to warm up.
I know how every hero plays in this game. I don't play certain heroes, but I know how all their spells work for the most part. I know how to initiate fights, I know how to lane every lane. I know when a lane will work/how to lane it as soon as I enter the lane. I know what it takes to counter certain heroes and how to play against them. I know how to last hit 10lh+per minute as long as I have space. I know where to put wards. I know pretty much everything, I know when/how to tri lane. I know when to do everything and how to do almost everything. I can look at a draft and know exactly how to initiate the fight, but never have teamwork so it always ends up random as fuck. I know how to buy smokes and gank. I know how to do fcking everything ok? I have 120+ apm(way way more than is needed for dota). I know every fucking aspect of the game you guys. I am not talking from my ass. The only thing left for me to learn is small things like spell cooldowns(i know generally if a spell has a low CD or long CD, but not exact seconds.) I know heroes that have long silences, I know heroes that have armor reduction, i know heroes that are countered by BKB and when its worth it to build a bkb. I know how to itemize properly. I know how to counter all meta heroes. I know everything I need to know to be 8k mmr. I know fucking mantas can dodge instances, yet I know when its worth it to buy one(alot of 7k players dont seem to understand things like this, They see the enemy has one spell that can stun through magic immunity, so they buy a fucking manta on jugger like a moron and lose the game). I know this fucking game like the longest pube on my body.
The reason why you can't see the difference between a 7k player and a 3k player is simple. It's because you're shit at this game.
That simple.
also, to clear something up for you:
http://www.dotabuff.com/players/354408529 The reason you went into N O R M A L L S K I L L (where you belong anyways) is simple. So please stop this foolishness.
If there is no playerbase for my skill level, why did I get qued? Makes absolutely no sense, just another excuse.
Also, if you look at the profiles of the "VHS" game I played, they were 2k and 1k ranked players. I don't understand why they were put on my team. It makes no sense. Its like the game sees it this way.
In hon they at least had a setting for que times where you can slide a bar from one side itss (faster que time) and on the other its(lower skill gap).
In dota, there is nothing you can do to avoid trash teammaes and they can put you with as many trashers as they want and you cannot do anything at all about it.
If you can't win games 1v5 in the 3k bracket despite your superior 'knowledge' then it's completely meaningless
How can you win 1v5, when your laning partner is trash, and your other teammates are feeding other lanes and not warding. should i walk around trying to ward in the dark and hope i dont get ganked? hug tower? try and convince my team to smoke for a lucky gank in the dark? Hope enemy team towerdives me into T3? There is no way to get enough farm to carry trash players who ruin not only your lane, but the other lanes already lost their towers. Enemy team puts target on your head if you are the only non feeder.
Btw Inx Long Qua, you are a disgrace to long qua dynasty.
Even Chi Long Qua himself who is 5.5k mmr, can watch pro games and say "I used to think that 2k players were all just dogshit, but after watching some of these games I honestly feel like you could just throw 5 random 2k shitters into a game and they would have a shot at winning this whole TI tournament".
The majority of my recent games are LP games. If you can't notice something like that you probably won't notice a lot of things in a dota match dude. I intentionally fed so the enemy team could end fast, they were impossible games because my carries were low mmr.
Anyways, I was smurfing in 3k just yesterday. All I gotta do is farm well and not die a lot, and take good fights. The enemy team can't farm well so it's really easy to win. It's seriously not difficult to solo carry a 3k game.
3K is full of players that think they're good, but actually they suck at everything and have sloppy mechanics. I'm 4k and I kinda suck but at least I know how to farm and stuff, I'm at least competent at all aspects of dota which 3ks are not.
"seeing as how u only play core roles, surely ud want to 1v1 someone with real money on the line, no
if ur as good as these 7ks or better u can make thousands of dollars in minutes..."
You assume I just have money to blow on gambling. Even if I think I am better than someone, 1v1ing is not regular dota. There is always the possibility of losing to someone who is less skilled, esp on the internet. I don't have money to gamble against people on the internet. Honestly, if I had the money I would be down but I don't have money for this atm, nor will I anytime soon. Also, I don't play mid very often. Most 1v1 involves SF vs SF, which is a hero I do not play. I have seen b9 lose to 4k players in 1v1 and he was 6.6k at the time. I would gladly 1v1 any well known player, for fun but it really doesn't even prove much even if I were to win. This game is not really designed for 1v1. Like, SF vs SF after you get a few creep kills advantage you have a last hitting advantage already. If both players are relatively decent at the game, they will be timing their attacks on last hits at a similar time and its really down to luck who gets those last hits.
Your inability to carry games at a higher skill bracket points to ur inability to exploit the weaknesses of better opponents, but it can very easily be perceived as weaknesses in your teammates.
There is a lot of variation in a game like Dota. I understand u get frustrated for every micro event that happens in a game. But u have to be patient in such a game. There's just too many variables ongoing for u to get upset at every single thing. You must analyze ur games with a look at the bigger picture. It will obscure your longer term view of the game.
This is Another reason why u need a shitton of games to reach higher mmr. It Is for good reason. Because so much shit can happen in one game that deviates from what is supposed to happen. But in the long run u will approach ur true skill. It's just the nature of the game. U shouldn't be complaining about having to play 500 games.
And if u have any intelligence and understanding of statistics u will know that the further away u are in terms of skill from
The current skill bracket of the games (no matter how imbalanced the game is - ie how rigged it is), the quicker you will approach ur true mmr rating. You see for yourself in Normal skill games where u rape your opponents. It doesn't matter if valve puts 5k players in the enemy team, if u find away to destroy the throne, u win, u have beaten the system. Similarly, if u r matches with 7k pro players in ur team and the game is rigged in ur favour, u can still do ur best to work against the outcome and feed al game so u lose ur throne. In the end, we have some control over the outcome, as long as we have enough skill to influence the game. Is nothing at all like poker scandals where u totally cannot influence the outcome.
The fact that u are having a harder time carrying just means u are at the skill level where u r not far away enough in terms of skill to exploit ur opponents or influence outcomes. Yes it means ur team is shit, but it also means u are shit. U must admit that. A natural response is to blame ur teammates and look at every single mistake. While ur analysis may be somewhat right, u must always remember the big picture and look at it comparatively. Meaning not just "my team makes x" dumb mistakes. But also look at the mistakes that the other team makes. Likewise count the plays your team makes vs what the other team makes. This is important if u want to have a good analysis of the game without confirmation bias. It's too easy to be biased esp when u r this emotional
Idk, I think if you're 4k you're definitely not as good as 7k. Believe it or not, if you're good you win games. If you're not you lose. Rocket science is so simple compared to this. I hope you understand.
I actually read the whole thing, was a good read and makes sense. I guess too many people now a days don't have attention spans of more than 30 seconds anymore.
TOO LONG DIDN'T READ
OP has massive issues anyway

Algorithms.
You really think they don't have a way to recognize if someone is on a smurf?

aaron, more than half of your games you feed, yet are still in VHS. please explain this to me.
0-21 pudge, somehow still in VHS.
0-22 0-10 shadow fiend still in VHS
0-12 0-6 axe in VHS
How do you feed this fucking hard in VHS????
The only hero you get good KD on is slark, who is literally the easiest hero to not feed with in the entire game.
Why don't you post on your main account instead of the one of many failed smurfs that you stopped playing on after losing 4 games in a row
KR, you can pay a middleman 50 bucks to 1v1 me.
This is the reason I don't have a main account. http://www.dotabuff.com/players/354408529
Aaron said all IMO
cos 3 games is not a significant enough sample size. congrats, you can beat monkeys who can barely operate keyboards. that doesn't mean you're 7k mmr.
The reason why you can't see the difference between a 7k player and a 3k player is simple. It's because you're shit at this game.
That simple.
also, to clear something up for you:

So please stop this foolishness.
Just leave the game OP, please. And dotabuff too.
ur going to have to put up the same amount lol.

Captainshags=9k mmr
teammate1=1kmmr
teammate2=1kmmr
teammate3=2kmmr
teammate4=1kmmr
enemyteam1=4kmmr
enemyteam2=4kmmr
enemyteam3=4kmmr
enemyteam4=4kmmr
enemyteam5=4kmmr
baalanced.
If you can't win games 1v5 in the 3k bracket despite your superior 'knowledge' then it's completely meaningless
TOO LONG DIDN'T READ
OP has massive issues anyway
BTW, I was 3k for about 4 - 5 months. That's all it took to go from 3 to 4k. http://puu.sh/pPtml/5312a0492e.png
3K is full of players that think they're good, but actually they suck at everything and have sloppy mechanics. I'm 4k and I kinda suck but at least I know how to farm and stuff, I'm at least competent at all aspects of dota which 3ks are not.
nel saved dota
If both players are relatively decent at the game, they will be timing their attacks on last hits at a similar time and its really down to luck who gets those last hits.
yup yup
