quest to questing

This hero is broken right now, you don't even have to be good on him to have a positive winrate. This guide is for those who actually want to get better at the hero and win the games you otherwise wouldn't.

Starting Items : Stoutshield, Tango, 3 branches.
Following Items: Quelling Blade/Magicstick > Brown Boots > Midas.
Skill Build: W>Q/E>W>/Q/E>W/Q>R. After this, W and Q takes priority. Sometimes you might want 2 quick levels in Q for Rage TP against heroes that have instant hex and can catch you. Sometimes you want 2 quick levels in E for the extra range. Most of the time 1-3-1 is the best all around build.

Justification: Naix's strength lies in his early game. He thrives in lanes that other carries would suffer in. He has great sustain, can trade well and his free bkb allows him to survive when your enemy attempts to kill you. 3 branches gives you additional stats, an option for regen or playmaking and can be turned into a Magic Wand in the cases you don't require them. This means you don't waste any gold on additional tangoes or a salve which might not be used. Starting with these items also mean you can immediately buy a QB/Stick before the first waves meet in the side shop after the first bounty.

Why Midas? This hero lacks the ability to flash farm and has low aspd. This item is a combination of both. You almost never ever skip Midas regardless of how difficult the lane is.

Brown Boots? You rarely need Phase Boots to do well in the lane. Exceptions to this is if there is high activity in your lane with it either being a tri v tri or there are constant rotations in and out. It's almost always better to just get Midas first.

Laning: Tbh, most offlanes can't do anything against Naix. Your passive lets you trade with any strength offlane. Monster tanky harassers like Sven/Centaur/Tide can't do anything to you. Rage means you can dodge most spell harass from annoying shits like Kotl or dodge any stuns with relative ease. When laning, do not passively CS. Ideally, your goal is to constantly apply pressure to them whilst maintaining the creep equilibrium and farming. Nothing much to be said here, lol. You shouldn't lose laning stage with Naix.

Tips: Use Open Wounds in lane on creeps for massive regen without committing any gold to reg items. A single use on a melee creep gets you back 300~ hp.

    Mid-Late game.

    Items: Phase/PT > Radiance/SNY/Halberd > Manta/Cuirass/Deso > Nullifier/Abyssal.
Talents: The only talent that's debatable is level 15, between the ms and dmg. Honestly, its much better to get the +30 dmg most of the time. It is rarely the case where Phase Boots + MS talent is better than PT + Dmg talent. The dps difference is quite large between the two however you have to adjust according to the game. Do you need catch/escape or manfight?

Tbh, most people don't have issues with laning on Naix. The part they fuckup is post laning stage. Almost ever single person I see goes into Phase/Midas/Radiance which isn't a bad build because its simply very general and has use in most situations. However, there are definitely cases where you DON'T WANT a Radiance rush or another build might be more effective.

There are a few cases where your team is balling really hard and you're on a timer because the enemy outscales your team because you have a Visage or some shit, this is where you forfeit the Radiance and get SNY/Halberd to be more proactive. However most of the times you skip Radiance is because your team is suffering and simply need you to contribute instead of afk farm.

Naix has great scaling but he is most definitely not a super hard carry. You are not an AM. If your team is too behind, you're just going to be useless even if you're 5/6 slotted. Ursa and MK are examples of super common picks that punish your team hard while you're afk farming. Don't waste the fact you can be flexible with this hero. I have bumped into countless morons that simply want to farm because they've been doing it and its been working most of the time (no shit this hero is op atm) and lost winnable games. The alternate items are self explanatory.

Halberd is great against enemies who want to pressure early like MK or Ursa. SnY is simply an all round item that helps you be proactive early. Manta (disassemble sny if you have it pls) is for cases where you need to purge off silences. Deso is cheap effective damage. Cuirass gives you armor/aspd and increases your dps with the -armor aura and benefits your whole team. Nullifier and Abyssal are for when you need to kill an important target.

I really must stress that Naix is fully capable of rotating and fighting early. Stop avoiding fights. Stop dragging the game against the Magnus+Pa because you want to complete your Radiance. Stop thinking that the 6 slotted TB will lose to you if you're equally as fed.

    MATCHUPS and random tips/info.

Go full racecar against Razors. You need to out run the static links.

BH offlane actually shits on you. Your passive doesn't mean much to him and Jinada hurts you like a bitch. Unlike other carries like Juggernaut, you can't actually commit heavily to killing him because Naix is more of a sustain/trade hero. And BH is the one who comes out on top with this.

Fucking buy Halberds against Ursas already. Actually, just buy that item. It has just amazing synergy with Naix. Evasion synergy with passive, status resist, health and damage, an amazing active.

If your team has great Naix bomb synergy. Please infest that Spiritbreaker/Centaur/Slardar/Whatever every time your ult is off cooldown. Always apply pressure if you're in a position to do so.

    STOP AFK FARMING.

Prioritize killing tombstones/eggs/kotl ultis when they go off.

    Prioritize targets in teamfights properly.

Remember to off radiance when infesting enemy creeps to escape. Situationally, you might want to turn it off when you infest an ally during a smoke. However, remember that you can't switch it back on and this can make a difference in instances where you don't want to break out of infest immediately.

Sometimes its much better to swap lanes with offlane if they're hard countered. Ask for an aggressive tri if necessary.

can't think of anything else atm.

    chicken spook,,,,

      niggy funny snarky moments

      One More Light

I remember a 5k mmr carry in my games who rushed sny after midas because he said that radiance is useless on ls.

        arin

          >5k mmr
          found your problem

          xD

abuse lifestealer, viper while you can..it will get nerf soon..

            the better spidey

What are your thoughts on Armlet?

              1) ... in the obvious right-clicker build, Armlet -> Deso (SnY)

              2) ... in the Arteezy Radiance build, Radiance -> Armlet

              quest to questing

I prefer SnY to Armlet a majority of the time, because it can later he made into Halberd and Manta which are both usually great on him. I think on the average player there aren't enough pros to the item to want to get it consistently.

The item also doesn't scale very well. The item is most impactful early on in the game and the later you get it, the worst it becomes. And Naix usually wants a Midas like I said (even with new patch nerfs) so rarely I'd get it.

If you're really good at armlet toggling and playing super high aggression games then yeah? In RTZ's games, they usually are extremely fast paced so the slight edge it has early makes a difference for him. It's why he likes dlance+sny rush on his Terrorblade too, cuz he fights constantly and ends the game asap.

But for the general pub player playin mmrs under 7k, then no. I don't think it's very good nor do I think the average player will be able to use that item to its maximum potential.
