New badge system better psychologically than the old numerical one? in General Discussion

Since you no longer see that MMR number most of the time (technically in stats but ya know) and just see your "Peak" badge even after losing many games? Thoughts pls

Honestly since they changed to this badge shit from the numbers, I've lost some of the drive to play.

I used to long for a day off so I could binge on 9-10 games in a day. Now I play a couple of games and its meh, id rather do something else.

its like chasing numbers I could get behind but now with these badges, its less of a big deal. No more road to 5k and crap like that.

I'm just not as into the "high" of winning games since you don't see that + or - 25 mmr anymore.

Why not a Road to Divine 5 ?

There still is quantification of progress, but just not per game basis like before. The current system could still motivate one to progress while not penalizing you so much psychologically for individual loses like before.

It's hard to decide wether its better or not. What certain is, that the new system makes a loss less punishing on the surface. You wont face directly, that you lost MMR - your badge remains the same most of the time. So this will probably result in a more friendly environment in the everyday ranked.

I think it's fine in the sense that if I lose a game I feel less motivated to not queue up since my rank will still be the same.
The only issue is that in my bracket the mmrs are mixed up right now. I get divine 2s that were once 6k and divine 5s that are like high 5k.
So it's hard to predict someone's previous mmr by their rank now.

guys you know you can still see your mmr right. You can still do a road to 5k. The medals are literally just so other people can see your approximate skill level. just go into your profile and click stats, boom you can see your mmr and track your progress, it's just less obvious now and you can't see your change overtime.
