It matters a lot, but in your case it doesn't matter because everything under 60fps is bad. Once you tried 60FPS you really don't want to go back.
y macbook runs dota 60FPS stable. Which macbook air do you have?
Fps matter for me,if i just have good pc i will be motivated to grind mmr i have 40fps and it drop when team fight so it so hard
Well, I mean the HD 5000 is garbage but you can try and play dota via Bootcamp and see how the performance is there.
EDIT: Nvm, even with bootcamp the performance will suck. I suggest you sell your macbook air and get something cool instead. Honestly, I don't even know why you have a macbook air to begin with.
i have pc (laptop) with i5-3317u, 6gb ram, amd radeon 7670m 1gb and i get around 20fps <.< on the mid,fast setting no idea why before reborn i had 60fps+ everything maxed out
Then you're just not hardcore enough
The graphics lowered isn't that ugly anyways
Something seriously feels wrong when FPS is below 30
@TN_Remilli:
Texture max, shadow Off, turn off Tree wind, Fog and Light pass, also set from borderless window to fullscreen.
See what happens
@Papa_Franku:
How is that a requirement? There is ALWAYS an alternative to ANY software from mac to windows.
@. performance nearly the same 5fps higher tho full screen or borderlands both have no diffrence. also there's no way to get better looking with constant 30fps+ i would expect to get higher fps and so far that's disappointing :(
Also do you have custom terrain?
I did a little checkup, the graphicscard is about the same as a GT 630m, which i did play dota on high 60-50FPS with. So you clearly have an issue here. You can add me on Steam and we can probably work something out.
But after you add tell me your steam name, so I can accept.
Well, you do have a bug somewhere, there are couple of things you could try but I don't really feel like writing a textwall.
@. :"( there no way so i just can keep high shadow with max texture along with animated portrait those all i need with 30fps :'(
Just add me, and tell me once u did, tell me ur steam name and ill accept, we will make it work somehow.
Lol I can't even tell the difference between all this fps bullshit. Also I don't think its possible to see the difference between fps higher than 60
@. give me ur steam id so i can add you otherwise here's my link steamcommunity.com/id/KhalilRmili
daddy there's diffrence the moment fps goes down from 60 ==> 5fps then game crash and u die xDDD specialy in teamfights when od ulty or es ulty...
i use to play 30 fps below.. then i got tired i bought a pc that cost 3k usd but it was worth it. it improves my game
Eh, my pc can only run dota at low setting at 60 fps. I want to upgrade my pc sometime but I have more important things to be spending money on now lol I'm too old to be throwing money at games, but if you can play at 30 then you can play at 30. However I would
Recommend turning all of the settings too low or off, less things to distract you
Nah' it doesn't matter as much as you think. Technically the game is playable at 30 FPS, but why would you want to play at that when you can play at full 60 FPS? So if you're already averaging above 60 FPS, then let's say you sometimes dip below 60 FPS during intensive moments, that's totally fine.
There's certain genre (like fighting games for instance) that absolutely require 60 FPS to be playable, even back in 360/PS3 era fighting games were one of the few games that were 60 FPS (before 60 FPS got all mainstream and was required by developers) as a matter a fact, there was even fighting games on PS2 that ran at 60 FPS. (OMG wha!? 60 FPS PS2 games!?)
Obviously once you start playing Dota 2 above 60 FPS, it makes everything clearer to the eye, thus giving you an advantage, but anything above that is over kill, 120 FPS won't make you a TI winner.
40ish fps, then you have aorund 20 or less fps in hectic teamfights. yes, that gives you disadvantage.

So like I use a MacBook Air (I'm sorry) and I get around 30 fps with medium settings. Most of my friends are all part of the PC Masterrace and have 80-120 fps on max settings. I was wondering if fps really do matter. Tried using low settings and I get 45-ish, but I'd rather have a good looking game on 30 fps than a shit looking game at 45.
