My friend is 5.7k and he got tier7/8. I am 6.3k and I'm pure tier 8. So I'd imagine the cutoff is somewhere between those values.

So does anyone know what mmr you need to be assigned directly as a tier 8 player?
I don't understand how it works, as i'm a tier 7 player but can stack into a tier 8 battle cup torney, so i'm wondering if nobody gets assessed as tier 8 it's just an option for the 6-7k players in tier 7 to qeue at a higher level.
