I know for a fact Slark is the perfect hero under 4K if you know how to play him.

<4.2 just can't deal with my 12 minute shadow blade, treads, aquila slark.

Omniknight. Tell team nicely to pick a carry who synergizes well with omni, if ur teammates listen u can easily win games.

Omni + slark

Omni + life stealer

Very good combos , makes ur team able to fight at any stage of the game. U can run him solo offlane or as a safe lane support.

Also try to ban AA

I find that if you are truly a higher MMR than what you are playing, its best to play heroes that are playmaking. For me, that means Beastmaster, Phoenix, Tidehunter, and Dark Seer.
There are plenty more play-making heroes, its all about finding which one you are best with.
Why a play-maker? Because any idiot can right click, most idiots can heal their team, and buy wards and deward. But not many idiots can place a well timed Vacuum into Wall. Or dive into battle, release fire spirits, activate your utility items, sun ray, egg, rinse and repeat.
I have really been finding this the easiest way to climb MMR. Granted, I'm not 3.8k, but from where I am now, this strategy works.

All of the heroes are fine first pick for me, except TA and Slark, but even then, I still first pick Slark cause i'm confident i'll snow ball, even if they do pick doom, blood seeker, or whatever. The ONE HERO, even more than Blood Seeker I think you should watch out for when picking Slark is Axe, ever since blade mail got buffed to go through bkb, and turned into pure damage, he absolutely dumpsters Slark. (he'll even use call on you when you're shadow danced, so even that can't save you) I truly believe Axe is a legit counter to Slark, he even rapes Slark early game if your support is passive and shit, which most of the time is the case.

@Wazsnu it should work even at mid 5k, your strat.

Only beyond 6k you are 'forced' to play core when grinding mmr, I believe...

on that note, I've seen zai random his way to 7k, and picks like rubick and beastmaster. But yeah, heroes who are able to produce the conditions for a good teamfight OR heroes who can punish bad teamfighting.

Get cm
Cm is good

CM and Drow are good for their global aura. They normally win normal skill due to that.
