i think mom is fine on him if your team can provide the disables
S&y isn't like mandatory on Sven but it is really good and perfectly viable. You have to keep in mind pro games there's a lot of skirmish action all the time. While in a pub you can farm 20 mins and still win game pros are making moves at 10 mins that have huge impact. So they need more early game stuff. That's why they get a lot of cheaper items. Plus they know when to use the actives in team fights. Pubs don't.
