It's a good idea on paper because your duel range goes from 150 to 350 but in reality you'll just spend more time not hitting each other, which might not be desirable.
Most of the time you cast it very far because of the cast time anyway, what you say is almost entirely irrelevant, takes about quarter of a second for two heroes to walk to each if they are both melee and about half a second if one is ranged, and this is at worst.
