he is really easy to gank if you attempt right after he used astral plus he needs a team to tank/brawl for him, or he gets focused/rekt

He used to, but his range got nerfed, those 2 were buffed, just can't deal effectively with flavours of the patch
cus his range is so bad I'm not sure he can beat other int heroes mid anymore. He's like the int version of viper only overnerfed and not tanky.

hes slow and easy to gank doesn't contribute much to teamfights until hes heaviliy farmed and he cant farm fast
He feels like a shittier version of SF, Both are farm reliant right click heroes with aoe ultis but SF has better range, can actually gank, and recovers way easier from a bad start due to razes, and his ulti isnt reliant on being farmed and doesnt have a retarded CD.

Speed is already fine at 315, base stats, stat gain, base armor are all fine too. What he needs is to not be entirely useless against BKB and he may be a totally fine safelane hero actually.
well if he would pierce bkb then he would be broken period. he would be like ench but much much better imo. so no! let him stay like he is now..he is a pain in the a.. anyway in mid
He's better if you can set up skills for other heroes like mirana, lina, techies, bloodseeker or even kunkka (before he has more range on X). He basically has a free eul (except deals no damage so blinks aren't disabled, and can't be purged). Maybe if mirana makes a comeback he will too?
It feels he needs a slow or something though so he can make up for his slow farming speed with ganking. Imprisonment is great defensively and to set up, but OD by himself is just a right-clicker with an instant nuke on long cooldown. His medium attack range doesn't help with the lack of a slow or stun either. Even a silence so he won't get slowed or stunned himself while right-clicking the same target would be nice. But currently he seems very team dependent after laning stage.

He isn't a tier 1 pick for a long time now, but since leshrac/qop/storm are common picks now, I think OD could make it into the meta as a situational counter:
Pros:
- Destroys every Intmidlaner in the laning stage
- Huge DPS against non BKB carriers (aoe and singletarget)
- Burns mana with ult
- Forces enemys into BKBs (for example storm)
- High Starting stats and huge statgain
- Early Mek
- Can avoid ganks (if not more than 2 involved)
Cons:
- Bad pushingability
- Bad ganker
- Relies on farm
- No real escape
