How come SnY isn't core on Luna? in General Discussion

I was a fan of Luna about a year ago when I started with Dota. She was quite underwhelming in the last patch and fell short to Sniper and Troll, due to her being very squishy.

Why aren't people building her tankier by building SnY instead Manta? With SnY she can fight well up until you build a Skadi or/and a Satanic. After wards you can disassamble the SnY and get a Manta, maybe even a Silver Edge, since people build Shadowblade on her for some reason.

I don't think that Manta speeds up her farming speed by that much since she's usually able to kill 4 camps in under a Minute (the fifth being to far away, but I might be wrong). Besides, SnYs maim also helps her chasing enemies which is kinda hard due to her abysmal attack animation.

I think some of the main reasons are that she craves attackspeed more than a slow in fights, as she is less of a chaser and more of a manfight hero (hence bkb satanic are usually fairly core on her in the long run)... The as leverages the glaves and damage aura and manta provides more than sny in that department, not to mention the ability to break out of silence without having to use valuable bkb charges and two units also glaving the shit out of things...

going early sange yasha to then disassemble for silver blade and manta sounds decent though... might be too many item slots though... bkb is needed so bad in like 90% of games imo.

Sange can be sold, I perosnally hate Shadowblade on her, it makes no sense what so ever. SnY helps her to fight at 20 minutes and not ten minutes later when the Satanic arrives. The Maim is just a bonus.

If fighting at 20 minutes is your goal then sure... but luna is stupidly squishy and really kitable due to her range being almost melee. I really don't think she should be fighting without bkb, except in really rare circumstances (no stun no slow no teamfight enemy line up, who are likely to try to dodge fights anyway), which sange is half the cost of ... and if you're farm orientated, the lifesteal is better than the str vs jungle.

But hey, Dota is all about the little personal flairs in build-ups... well, at our level anyway haha.

You might as well try it out a few times, see what it's strong against and what it's weak against.

Just fyi, aquila treads yasha bkb seems to be acheivable by 20 mins... which is the far superior fighting build for this hero imo.

It's more for team fights cus he illusions get glaives so instead of doing crappy dmg they do kind of ok dmg. They get like a 75% dmg boost over normal ranged illusions. But I don't see any real issues building either one, end result is going to be extremely similar. Main difference really is the cost, and s&y cheaper.
