yeah pretty much everyone thinks they should never pick support to support their trash teammates and in the end they're the ones who suffer
To get high solo MMR, you need a consistent factor in every game to perform carrying duties. This consistent factor has to be you, because you are in every game.
Supports rely on other heroes to accomplish killing someone, whether they need damage to follow up or an additional stun, they need others.
A farmed Storm Spirit, for example, usually doesn't need anyone else.
This is why you do not pick support; because you need to get good enough at heroes that can kill others by themselves and carry the game with money.
You can't depend on someone else every game, because all the bots you play with vary in skill and cooperation.

always pick as last person, while enemy picks heroes go to dotabuff and see who are they worst vs and pick the hero that ur team needs and counters enemy.

Ok. Got 1300 MMR in last 2-3 months playing CM, mostly supports and not even being captain over half of the time.

NEVER PLAY SUPPORT - stuff before that was awful already and it just went downhill from there.
Never ever ever never ever listen to those guys - counter pick nasty heroes, or play what you are good at and isn't allready countered and matches in the team. Or to make it short, play what your team needs.
But don't try supporting if you have bad positioning or if you are an aggressive type of player.

Step 1: Queue AP, find a hero you can play well, can solo kill enemies and is not dependent on your teammates.
Step 2: Mute everybody in the game; pretend you are playing a bot match that gives you MMR.

Step 4: Hope your team didn't feed a bot playing a hero too insurmountable for you.
Step 5: Pick off support bots who neglected to get money.
Step 6: Use huge lead to carry team to victory.
NEVER pick support
NEVER random (always stick to a handful of heroes that are reliable to you)
ALWAYS have a variety of heroes that can go to different lanes (never be dependent on going middle, for example, because you may encounter a bot that has a bugged AI, which causes it to run its hero into the enemy base over and over again if you are in his mid lane.)
NEVER play Captain's Mode (Even if you are KING DRAFTER, your botmates will play noticeably more poorly if they didn't get their Juggernaut Jungle pick.)
