Swiftending mentioned that 4+k was the hardest part of his MMR experiment because of the toxic nature of the bracket. Your guess of 55% seems about right to me.
"Swiftending mentioned that 4+k was the hardest part of his MMR experiment because of the toxic nature of the bracket."
Why am I not surprised in the least?
well the trick to win at 4k is you MUST get first blood, then you say something like 'EZ LANE' and watch them kill eachother.
Or in Sampson's games, scream GG noob supports, then afk in well at any of the following events :
[*] Miss a CS
[*] Take damage from harass
[*] Not get pooled x4 tangos in safelane
[*] Have an enemy hero get within 600 range of Sampson
[*] Supports in range of exp at any given moment
[*] Game exceeds 20 minutes
*Jokes*

THIS.
Melody, Ill have you know I miss 75% of my CS majority of my games without calling GG
i boosted an account from 3.5k to 4545, w/l from 4k onwards was 45/22, 67% winrate
http://dotabuff.com/players/86743218/matches?page=5
page 1 to top 1/3 of page 5 are the matches
winrate mostly depends on the type of heroes you are playing actually.
i dont have any mmr on my main but highest attained is 4.6+ on a smurf
i boosted an account from 5k to 5.7k, win rate was about 70%
its called my main
meanwhile my unranked and party ranked compensate with a 40% win rate
take from that what you will, because I have no idea wtf is going on either
ok thanks for mentioning swiftending. read his "experiment" and it seems like he had an easy time stomping his way from 4k to 5k, except he's an almost 6k player

More exactly, would he be the "MVP" every single 4k game or would his wr be something like 55%, from which he will slowly climb back to his actual mmr.
Not talking about try hard play here, where the 5k player only picks tb or sniper etc.
