But in all seriousness, read that guide which our admin just posted, Sampson knows a lot when it comes to BH.
You don't max your third skill. You either max your Shuriken, or you get 2 points into Shuriken and max Jinada, both builds give damage. If you max Shadow Walk then your damage is much lower. Only get a 2nd point into Shadow Walk so that the duration is longer than the cooldown (20s duration, 15s cooldown).
Almost always you want to get Shadow Walk first in case you need to run past wards, or to escape a gank. An offlaner without their escape tool is useless, because it is what allows them to solo the offlane and not die.
If you are going for a max Shuriken build (useful when you don't have farm), the skill order would either be:
• E-W-Q-Q-Q-R-Q-W-W-W-E-R-E-E-Stats-R
• E-W-E-Q-Q-R-Q-Q-W-W-R-E-E-E-Stats-R
If you go 2-1-2 at level 5, the extra duration on Shadow Walk means that Shadow Walk's duration is longer than it's cooldown, allowing you to stay constantly invisible if you have the mana pool.
If you go 3-1-1 at level 5, Shuriken is maxed one level earlier but you'll have to be more strategic with your Shadow Walk usage. If it's about to run out, you need somewhere to hide, and fast.
Otherwise, the 2 in Shuriken + max Jinada is good if you are dominating your lane, and because you are able to get farm on Bounty Hunter e.g. fast Phase + Drum, Jinada actually becomes useful early game. The lower cooldown means you can harass more often, or when ganking, you can continue chasing because of Jinada's slow.
For this skillbuild, you want to go:
• E-W-E-Q-Q-R-W-W-W-Q-R-Q-E-E-Stats-R
• E-W-W-Q-Q-R-W-W-Q-Q-R-E-E-E-Stats-R
Note that you still get 2 points into Shuriken before level because it has really good damage with 2 points into it. Level 1 Shuriken has 100 damage, level 2 has double damage, at 200, it's almost like a ranged Jinada hit for 115 mana.
For the most part, you probably want Desolator for the extra damage, as well as giving your team extra damage. If your team already has one, you could go BKB instead, or a support item like Vlads. In my opinion you only go Basher if you were building a late game Abyssal Blade.
I have actually seen people go no shuriken and instead go for full lane harass and it actually concedes kills. However, don't try this unless you are an actual confident bounty hunter player.
Yes use sampsons guide it is the best and his 10 years of bh experience shouldn't go unnoticed. Use his guide it is wuw to do.

Ive done the max harass build, I will do it if they put a solo safelane melee carry and he is awful :)
no bounty is like a 1-2 hit kill machine
high dmg but slow atk for an agi hero
... but abyssal is not bad for the dmg + 2 sec stun vs bkb, but i wouldnt get basher for the right-click dmg
Basher if they are always getting away with low hp. desolator only if I'm not feeding or team is not behind. Having desolator is nice, but if you can only make like 4 auto attacks whole team fight I would get something else.

Let's go to topic, since i'm a newbie here and know a little bit with DOTA1 or DOTA2.
When using BH, usually i max his 1st and 3rd skill. Then roam with Pudge (if a teammates pick) or any Ganker
But at mid-late game i prefer to built my hero as carry.
Which item is better? Basher or Desolator? (I prefer desolator to deal higher damage with Jinada)
or Basher (Good stun, but with chance)
