    With the last patch, mana leak got a small buff. At level 4, it's a 3 sec stun when the enemy hero gets to zero mana. So, is it worth to max before other skills nowadays?

        @DonCopy you wouldn't really trade an AOE nuke that increases by 100 per level for a disable that increases by 0.5 secs. And not maxing chakra magic is terrible idea.

          Ty Luxon. I was just thinking about people goin panic when kotl uses mana leak and stay still. "I'm not goin to lose my mana!"

            Btw Force Staff works with Mana Leak like it does with Rupture.

              Technically it can work for low mana heroes like Sven early game.

                yeah maybe one level earlier could work when it's trilane vs solo or trilane vs trilane.
                your trilane clears a creep wave very fast and you use mana leak on the closest hero, he can either run and lose mana or stand still, tank creep wave and possibly get killed.

                  Getting levels up early in mana leak is very good IF you have a nuker to feed mana. There really is no reason to play KotL if there is not such a nuker... but often idiot pubs refuse to cast their nuke for harass just because they don't normally do it. If they will not nuke spam, then just get illuminate and farm some stacked jungle creeps.

                  Don't push the lane out with Illuminate spam unless you really intend to take a tower or need to defend a tower. If you level illuminate all the way up its mostly only good for ksing all your carries farm. Low levels in illuminate are much better for harass because they don't take as long to charge and don't automatically ks all the creeps. Even if you have level 4 illuminate... you will still have to release it early at 200 dmg unless you lane against idiots who stand still and take it.

                  IF you have real cooperation then a quick two points in mana leak can destroy difficult to kill offlaners. Max mana leak is very good in particular situations like "we need to kill a spirit bear", or "we want to gank anti-mage", or "we want to gank timbersaw", or totally crushing Ember spirit. Certain heroes are just worthless when you hit them with mana leak. Mirrana... leaps and gets stunned for 3 sec and now can't cast anything else. Leap basically now costs half of Mirrana's mana pool. If she doesn't have half she will be instantly stunned.

                  If you have a Fstaff try defending a tower not just with illuminates but by mana leak and fstaff the closest enemy into the tower. Tower will re-aggro on them if you time it right. This combo has an 800 range which is longer than nearly all stuns in the game so it is safe to do if you are fast. Often this will cause a push to entirely fail since one hero is now dead or at least low hp and nearly out of mana. Walking back the distance Ftaff moved them forward will take 60% of their mana pool. Casting an illuminate just delays a push... but this can completely stop it.

                      Earth Spirit causing problems? Max mana drain... one roll is 1600 units, 75% mana Earth + 1 roll = zero mana and 3 sec stun.
