watch professional games, best method would be buying a ticket of a tournament you like and go into player perspective

value your cores over yourself in every step you take
always ward with a purpose. You want to see your enemies, not to put it there so that that area lights up and never see anybody going through forever. For example, enemy team has a carry that likes to jungle? spot his pattern and abuse it. ward their nc. sounds pretty simple but when you fail to do it in the first 10-15 minutes you are losing a lot of potential advantage. Second example. enemy pudge mid? ward uphill outside his tower so that you can see his movements. you can dodge all his hook ranges effectively like this and he wont gank with much success.

And here's my fav. "tutorial" video off all time, where he drew in the camp-blocking areas which is extremly useful to know, since in most cases you never should put the ward directly into the camp. I had plenty of games where i blocked the radiant's camps and the enemy couldn't deward with 2 sentries.
