If there's anyone in my party that isn't good, I just queue for an unranked game. If he insists on playing ranked, tell him the truth. Better to shit on his ego than build it up, it'll go miles towards helping him improve.

he is in my irl friend.
now that i've moved to US, we have 12 hours of difference
im teaching him how to play. slowly....
Everyone i stack with are friends and most are new to dota. I prefer to play with friends over randoms even if it means some shitty games every now and again and a below average win rate.
Give him a support hero role, that way his impact is little on contributing to your losses that you blame on him.
This happened with a friend of ours. I was at a 48.5% win rate when we stopped playing with him, Just 51% now. x.x I guess it mattered. He was a support player, but basically fed nonstop, had no willing to take advice from others and insisted SB on bane was new meta. Now, I'm not a meta overlord or anything, but .. for the love of god, why are you 2-20 with an escape item...
@cartographer, that sniper. The feels.
When he is uncarryable, his role doth not matter for hell shall drag you down with him.
Actually what you can do is search for a hero that he is good with. I play with a friend that is really " casual" but he loves sand king.
Try to go to the same lane he is going to be, so you can give him advices about what he should do.
If he is actually your friend you are not going to abandon him dude, plus remenber that your party MMR goes down by a lot if he is bad, so i guess you can just pick a good mid hero and stomp.
I've done it to plenty of friends and don't plan to stop. My MMR won't get fucked by some noob.
wait are you guys talking about me ?
I was talking about this friend: http://dotabuff.com/players/43067195
and by casual i mean he doesnt give a fuck about trying to learn new stuffs or reading guides or whatever, he just play the game when posible and he just tries to have fun.
Still 400 games on a year, yeah i would say casual.
Sometimes the player gap difference is too much. Hence that uncarryable friend.
5 above average players will win more often than 2 really good players, 2 below average and 1 really horrid guy.
well if you have fun playing with him even if you lose you should keep playing with him.
If you dont just dont play with him i guess.
" Try to go to the same lane he is going to be, so you can give him advices about what he should do. "
typicall SM.
If u had my friends, u would worship urs.
Even the guy who introduced me to Dota is much worse than me at the game, my MMR around 4.3k, his around 3.2k.
And the cancer, I mean the friends whom I introduced to dota are even below 3k MMR.
I still queue with them EVERY game and I am really curious how did I get a 4.3k party MMR O.o
Just teach him how to play proper support and have him as your ward bitch. Good positioning is the key to not feed as a support, so make it clear to him where he should stand in team fights and pathings when ganking, etc.

We all have that one uncarryable friend.
Sometimes the games become unbearable. Sometimes the games become rollovers. Sometimes you start craving that closely matched game when you win.
But hey, he's your friend. Will you abandon him?
