Id suggest watch pro games and tips and tricks guides. Good mechanical skill helps in dota, but what you need the most is game sense - what to do past laning stage - when to push, when to back, when to expect enemy smoke or rosh and so on. It hurts to see people hugging towers at min 40. Btw - play supports and semicarries more often.
