Why the match making system must show the player skills when we make the match ? in General Discussion

In the team there will be noob and pro players together. Sometimes if there is really less skill player with me in the same team, i believe he shouldnt carry. Thats why it is better to know all players skill when we mwke the matches using match making system. If someone want to make private match then he can play without using match making system. This is just advise

In LoL, you know there's people who don't deserve their league and there's some who are in the wrong league. Elo systems are constantly being tweeked because it's all based on theory. You shouldn't take someone's ELO as God's word.

Truth. It wasn't simply ratings either, if you had good stats with particular heroes to back you up, there wasn't a problem. Especially when it comes to higher ratings, you can expect a certain amount of skill to be displayed by a player, as opposed to mid-lower ranked matches where it can be a hit and miss.

The other point is that it allows you to adapt your approach and expectations towards the game. If you are playing with a mid that is much less skilled than the opponent, you are more inclined to gank/ward/protect the mid hero, and be less surprised when the opponent exploits an advantage.

I do think issues like this are resolved with a good match making system, where the skill gaps are not so big, but without one, visible ratings and some basic stats are really fucking handy.

With that in mind, ELO is the lazy and ineffective approach to games like dota (ie. not 1v1), I'm really surprised that valve aren't going to release something given what gabe said in the past..
