    So obviously if you switch from str to int your mana regen goes up a tiny bit .3 per second. But when you switch back to str the mana gained from those 8 int is lost and it seems to be a percentage loss, so if you were at 30% mana and you switch back to str you're at 30% mana, you don't just lose 8 ints worth of mana capacity. So basically it seems you do not regen mana any quicker unless you stay on int on your treads. As soon as you switch that bonus regen is lost. Is this correct?

    I used to switch between str and int all the time to increase my regen but it appears this doesn't work at all.

      For mana purposes, the reasons to switch are:
      - Boots are not on int, and you're just a little mana short for a skill that you *need* to cast, so switch to int.
      - Your boots are on int, and you are about to cast/use a mana regen item/skill. Switch boots to non-int for the regen buf duration, as this will affect a larger percentage of your mana than if you had boots on int. The same goes for any mana boosting item really, just drop it on the ground (if you are in a safe area) then pick it back up.

      For example, say you have 500 (current) out of 1000 (total) mana with int boots, and a friend is about to use arcane boots on you. This would give you a 135/1000 = 13.5% boost. If you switched boots to non-int, you would have 435 (current) out of 870 (total) and the arcane buff would give you a 135/870 = 15.5% boost, which would be a 155 mana boost when you switch back to int boots.

        But you confirmed it's all percentage based, so switching to int doesn't really net you any increased regen by itself, since once you switch out you stay at the same percent of mana. I incorrectly thought you stayed at raw level.

          Not all mp and hp use and regen is % based. If fact most of it is not % based.

          Nearly all spells cost a fixed amount of mana. If you use a spell with INT treads it uses a smaller % of your mana pool. If you get regen from arcane boots or a clarity or an aura etc... with AGI treads you gain a larger % of your mana pool. If you take dmg with STR treads it takes a smaller % of your hp. If you regain hp from a salve, or a tango, or any item based on Ring of Regen, or Ring of Health, or an aura... You gain a larger % of your hp with AGI treads.

          So you want to have more stats when you are losing and fewer stats when you are gaining.

            Well yes it does, what I meant to say was that the amount is nearly negligible, but I got carried away with the other math. To give another similar example, say you're 435/870 mana and you switch to int boots (so now you are 500/1000 mana) for a minute. Not counting any other regen, you would get .03 * 10 * 60 = 18 mana in that one minute, ie 518/1000. Changing back to non-int boots would bring you to 450.66/870, so it was a gain of 15.66 mana.

              Tread switching has a lot bigger impact early game and if you do it consistently.

              Here are a couple examples:

              [1] You are Sven and CM is on your team maxing aura. You keep treads on STR normally to farm, but as you are about to cast to switch to INT then back. Storm hammer costs 140 mp. Your mana pooll at level 7 with just STR treads is only 284, you can barely cast all 3 spells (265 cost). You switch to INT now you have 104 more mana...that is the cost of using your ult! It's a big deal.

              CM aura gives you 2.5 mana/s while you leave treads on STR...when you switch back to INT to cast that becomes 3.42 mana/s. Is that a big deal? It means that you regen the mana needed for another stun in 41 seconds...but it takes 56 if you failed to switch treads. This means you could cast your stun 3 times in 2 minutes instead of 2 times in 2 minutes. That means you win 1 more fight.

              [2] You are AM, you farm up a RoH and are on your way to Bfury. You know you are under threat so you got treads first, now your dps for farming is much faster with AGI treads...the gank comes in and you switch to STR...+190 hp much harder to kill. And you survived with those extra hp. Great! Now, how fast will that RoH get you back to full? On STR treads at level 8 you have 880 hp. You took 700 dmg from the gank attempt...your max hp with AGI was 690 but thanks to a quick tread switch as the first stun flew in from fog you survived. Blink animation to slow...but treads switch is instant. You switch to AGI to heal and you are down to 141 hp, support hands you a salve and with RoH you are back to full in 15 seconds.

              RoH gives you 5 hp/s, but with the tread switch advantage it heals effectively 6.4 hp/s. The salve would heal 400 hp, but with tread switch it does 510.
