The only thing that i liked from that patch was Spectre being able to use reality continuously......
Well to answer the main question of the thread. The biggest impact is the overall buff to offlaning from the changes to the way xp is aquired and the xp value of neutrals. Doing aggressive tri-lanes and dual lanes is now going to be far more effective.
2nd biggest impact is the nerf to buy-backs.
Disruptor now has AOE Doom...why pick Doom?
Slark is now officially the #1 pubstomp hero.
@Relentless, yeah... now that you mention it :|
@Dorkly, HE WILL DEFINITELY ENTER META.
@Uber, just saw it. He's unstoppable unless you have aoe stun spells now.
@Eul, I don't really see its usefulness though unless you're chasing a group of heroes. Using it means you lower your ulti damage :/
On the offside, you can cast doom on a BKB'd target and it lasts way longer. Disruptor silences items but I don't think it works on already magic immune targets.
Best part is the hero pool for mid will probably change; Meepo, NS, Invoker, Skywrath, Brood.
The XP gain changes are very good for Brood. It will be impossible to zone out a brood with those new webs.
Brood's insane in laning phase now. Just walking through cliffs and trees like a bawss.
@Blunt, yes. Broken for sure. 4 seconds of free attacks. If you get BKB it means at low hp, you're literally invulnerable and can get benefit from insane regen.
Pro and Excellent Rubic players all going Aghs now for sure.
Slardar is now a viable pick...no mana cost sprint. He really could not roam before. Now he can.
Veno is going to be an amazingly strong laner early now...still sucks late game.
" Swapped the medium pullable Neutral Camp with the small camp" - supports nerfed.
"Can no longer orb-attack while attack restricted (such as Ethereal or Frostbite)" - OD and huskar are now counterable with ghost scepter
"Chemical Rage no longer provides 250/500/750 bonus HP" - WHAT THE FUCK, seriously, ya, he gets now 50 regen on level 1, but he basicly had a mini tarasque. huge nerf.
" Divided We Stand leveling rebalanced from 6/11/16 to 4/11/18" - yeaaaahh.
"Removed 30% stat sharing on non-aghanim Divided We Stand" - nooooo.
"When Thirst is active, movement speed cap is removed on your hero" - what does this mean, haste for infinite move speed?
"- Added Aghanim's upgrade: Adds Midnight Pulse damage to your Black Hole. This damage stacks with Midnight Pulse." - delicious
"- Tether now does a -100% MS/AS slow instead of a stun" oh no.
"Can now use Blink Dagger" pudge with blink, will break a lot of myths.
"Added Aghanim's upgrade: reduces cooldown from 20/18/16 to 5, increases cast range from 1000 to 1400 and makes all stolen spells be considered to have their Aghanim's upgrade." - rubick will not fit support role working well without any items. this is too good to deny.
" Added Aghanim's upgrade: reduces Mystic Flare's cooldown from 60/40/20 to 20/10/0" - team this guy with outworld devourer, see wonders.
"- Shadow Dance duration reduced from 5.5 to 4
- Shadow Dance cooldown increased from 25 to 65
- Shadow Dance can no longer be revealed by Truesight" - nerf for pubs, buff for pros. towerdives easily.
" Base magic resistance reduced from 25% to 10%, visage" they should do this to huskar instead.
Shadow Blade
- Shadow Walk cooldown increased from 18 to 28 - Even worse win rates for prophet and alchemist.
"New Tranquil Boots
=========================
Active Boots:
+ 85 Movement speed
+ 4 Armor
+ 10 HP Regeneration
Broken Boots:
+ 60 Movement speed
+ 4 Armor
Restores when you haven't attacked or been attacked in the last 13 seconds.
Cannot be disassembled" - buffed, but you cant make vlads from it's parts anymore.
- Spin Web AoE increased from 650 to 900
- Spin Web cast range increased from 600 to 1000
- Spin Web cast point nerfed from 0.2 to 0.4
- Spin Web no longer destroys trees
- Broodmother now has completely unobstructed movement when under the web (can walk over cliffs, trees, etc)" - SO cool, this guy finally received some love.
* Broodmother and Slark are temporarily disabled from CM, they will be added back shortly.
They also buffed wards and nerfed move speed of all boots.
"Batrider
- Base damage reduced from 48-52 to 38-42
- Vision reduced from 1400 to 1200
- Flaming Lasso cast range reduced from 175 to 100" - doesn't hurt his jungling for blink rush, but lasso harder to land, and base damage will be fucking lowest in the game next to clinkz and sf. napalm will help him with last-hits anyways.
This guy will probably still remain in top tier but will have to forget about the spotlight(100%pick/ban).
"Non-Ancient Neutrals now split XP with all heroes in the AoE instead of just the team that killed them" - nerfed pulling
"* Swapped the medium pullable Neutral Camp with the small camp" - nerfed pulling.
Also reduced HP and XP on few camps. easier to kill but less rewarding=bullshit. even worse win rate on prophet.
After trhe XP change ranged heroes on solo offlane will make more sense, I'm still wondering how close the meeting place will be to the tower.
Invoker had to skill Invoke up to level 2 before having 2 spells available to cast. Now he can cast 2 spell at level 4 at the earliest instead of level 5.
Viper can orb walk at level 1 now like drow.
Tether 100% slow will be yet another tiny nerf to wisp that will not effect the pro scene much. Excellent wisps will still have the same impact. The only change will be for tp cancels.
FAR better fix to armlet this time.
"Can someone explain me this change? Invoke Max Spells rescaled from 1/2/2/2 to 2"
Invoker will be able to have 2 spell invoked after level 3. he was permitted to have only one before.
Ty, I remembered talkdota where puppy said Skeleton King will be able to join competitive scene when his lifesteal starts affecting ranged units/heroes.
IceFrog hates couriers???? need more item drops from courier deaths "Flying Courier
- Cannot be purchased until 3 minutes after creeps spawn"
"Hand of Midas
- Transmute no longer works against Necronomicon units"
5 man necro strat returns?
"Linken's Sphere
- Linken's Sphere can now be cast on an allied hero to transfer the buff"
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ Late game support item?
Actually couriers won't be as easy to kill since they buffed its MS and HP. This "tiny" change matters in pre 3-mins gameplay, But it actually nerfs early bottle-crowing instead.
CAPTAINS MODE
* Broodmother and Slark are temporarily disabled from CM, they will be added back shortly.
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
Even IceFrog knows these things will need to be nerfed back again.
* Evasion now stacks diminishingly
What does this mean ?
* Your gold income is now 1 per 0.6 seconds, up from 1 per 0.8 seconds
More gold ? :D
- Darkness causes enemy vision to be reduced by 25% (affects heroes, creeps and wards)
I think that its a sick buff to nightstalker.
It means that, unlike till now, you can buy evasion items like butterfly on heroes with passive evasion and it will actually make some sense. Lets take phantom assasin for instance. She has a passive 40% evasion from her skill called blur. If you get a butterfly, which provides 35% evasion, you get 40%+(100%-40%)*35%=61% evasion. Before, only the evasion with the highest value was taken into account.
"Non-Ancient Neutrals now split XP with all heroes in the AoE instead of just the team that killed them" this is the most retarded change Dota ever had. Now a BH can just stick around Chen and steal his exp without doing anything. How does that even make sense?
More free gold = nubs rejoice...but also supports will be able to afford more items at the pro level.
Combine this with the obs ward nerf, the smoke buffs, the flying courier nerf, the pull nerfs, the zoning nerfs.
This means the best choice for supports will nearly always be early smoke ganks and roaming. Pro games will be more exciting to watch and support heroes more exciting to play. This is probably the biggest real improvement to dota 2 in the last 2 years. The early part of the game will see a ton more action in high level play.
This is not about specific hero vs hero situations like BH vs Chen it is about forcing everyone to value farming the jungle less and fighting more.
"Riki is no longer revealed out of Permanent Invisibility when he casts spells or uses items"
Etheral/dagon anyone? I doubt they will allow this. :)
Also the "free pathing" thing sounds buggy like hell. Probably everyone would use a stun/disable after hook/swap anyway. Or even better, use it to save allies.
"- Culling Blade threshold reduced from 300/450/625 to 250/350/450 (Aghanim upgraded version is still 300/450/625)"
Thanks for making axe more usele...
"- Culling Blade speed bonus increased from 25% to 40% and AoE from 600 to 900"
"- Culling Blade 40% speed bonus now applies to attack speed as well"
Welp.
pub Axe will now farm jungle for 25 min and get aghs...then ult a creep and charge in to right click.
Also, I don't like what they did to PA's Stifling Dagger. It can deal 810 pure damage at level 4 of it, considering you have coup de grace at level 3 and get lucky with the crit. This could potentially harass any hero out of a lane, considering its low cd and manacost, even if not leveled out completely.
It's funny how everyone missed the most crucial part of this patch.
1) Creeps meet closer to the tower on hard lane.
2) XP gain range has been increased
3) Pulling neutrals are now low level
Add this all up and = triple lanes are obsolete. From now on it's 2-1-2 only.
"- Killing Observer Wards now grants a 50 gold bounty"
Dewarding is now rewarding!
...yeah, that was a horrible pun. I'll be quiet now.
icefraud breaks my heart with every big update :{
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IOI9A8NH4d8
what do they mean by evasion stacks diminishingly? PA with 40% evasion and 35% bfly, after an attack, it checks if the passive dodges, then if it fails to evade, then it checks bfly evasion? Or is there another mechanic to it...
and reducing Elder's spirit to 200 dmg? really?
Did I miss something or did everyone here miss the "Culling Blade no longer goes on cooldown if it successfully kills a hero" part because that shit is actually pretty crazy.
"Also, I don't like what they did to PA's Stifling Dagger. It can deal 810 pure damage at level 4 of it, considering you have coup de grace at level 3 and get lucky with the crit. ?

1. Short day/night cycle buffs NS by quite a bit. He can gank way earlier if he mids and now he becomes a viable trilane because he'll be really strong just 4 minutes in.
2. Skywrath with Agahim. His ultimate at lvl 3 has 0 seconds cooldown. ZERO GOD DAMN SECONDS. This totally changes his playstyle. He can be quite a strong mid contender now since farm will boost his lategame greatly.
3. Alchemist with his reworked ulti. He has a weaker lategame and stronger early game now. 50hp/mana reg is sick at level 6. You'll be seeing him do mad trolling with juking or tanking now. Will probably gear him more towards a ganking/offensive carry role now.
4. Batrider's spiral to normal tier. A drop of base damage by 10! His ultimate range cut by nearly half and he has horrible normal vision now. His ulti will still be great but I don't think he'll be the number 1 ban from now on.
5. Bloodseeker. The power of global vision of anyone at 50% hp... We all know how powerful map control is at the competitive level.
6. Wisp's tether no longer has a stun. This makes a serious impact on his playstyle. It won't counter melee heroes as hard now, nor will you see a Magnus cowering in fear of diving in and RP.
7. Linkin's new active will make it more viable now. Less people cursing at you for not getting BKB.
8. Tranquil boots. The new one is way more effective for roamers now.
Well, theres a lot of other stuff which can be really impactful like blink pudge/broodmother entering meta but these 8 caught my eye. How do you guys think this crazy update will affect the meta??
