You will only lose a match by disconnection (Abandon) when you didn't reconnect in time (5 minutes)
This also happened to me several times, Where you get disconnected and can't reconnect (Dunno Why).
Either you can pm your team to pause til you reconnect, or ask them to finish the game ASAP before 5mins, If you were winning.

All they do is capture the data from dota2 servers and display it here, they dont do anything other that provide a portal in which you can view your stats.

I would just like to raise this concern about disconnected players... I was disconnected from a game where our team is about to WIN... Then suddenly I was disconnected an unable to reconnect? does that mean that I automatically lose the match. It's not that I care much about the records but somehow, even though my record is not that great I'm working on it. So how will average players like me appreciate that kind of recordings where we don't actually lose or about to lose a match and DOTA BUFF recorded it as lose.
