I heard that a "virgin" account is not sent to LPP automaticly. Mods are validating reports for it. If the reports are approved and you were sent to LPP at least once, then the system gets automatic.
Of course this is only an unofficial source (and might be an urban legend) because Valve does not provide official source about how the system works.
And BTW: how would you make the system not abusable but working as intended with this playerbase?

I have abour 400+ games on my account. I flame at people all the time. I'm just i've been reported about 100 times and I have left 2 games. I have never been in lp. Why is that? System not broken.
@Vuk - you may be right about that, the first time u get into LPQ - it may be because u have actually done something wrong, which i admit on my main account. I may have been like "Fuck u fucking russian retard, l2play dota u fucking moron" <-- for saying that: Place me in lpq. Give me 6 hours. Give me time to think about what stupid shit ive done. But from this point on; it gets automatic. If i get reported; BAM - another extra hours into the LPQ.
Cr4veDis - You dont know how many times you have been reported. And also, the hardest time to be a LPQ guy is the first time, it took me like 700 games before i actually got into the LPQ, but when you are in there, ALL it takes is one single report and u will keep getting additional hours onto your time in LPQ. Ive maybe in my first 1000 Dota game had like 12 hours in LPQ (where i have just waited till i got out of the pool). In my latest 200 games ive had about 20 days in LPQ because i keep getting put back into the pool if i just get a report (and if i am already in the pool)
To sum it up: If you have legitimately been placed in the pool for being an idiot, then all it takes to give u additional time, hours and day in the pool is if someone reports u. Valve doesnt look every report through if u are already there, they just instantly give u another day or additional hours if you are in the pool, because then they assume you have done more things wrong... Even tho that may not be the case.

Yes, report system is flawed and abusable, but nobody gives good ideas how it should work.
My idea: decrease the number of reports:
- You cannot report during game just right after game (at scoreboard), so rage reports will decrease.
- You have to write down why you report (blank reports with all four reasons checked are considered abuse), so troll reports will decrease.
- An amount of false reports gives the player serious punishment (you have to be more sencere about reorting or not).

I also feel like they should just look at the amount of reports, maybe. I mean, if a person has gotten one single report or two, just leave him at it, dont waste time on it. But if a player is carrying 50-100 reports, CHECK REPLAYS of the game, what he has done, why he has been reported etc. so that Valve has some kind of validiation as to why they have put this guy in LPQ and not just because of some stupid semi-automatic system. I dont expect valve to be able to look EVERY single report through, thats why i think they should take a look at those with major reports, like if they can look at those players that have been reported 8 times during 1 game, it will most likely be because they have int. fed and left the game. If they find some1 with 80 reports after 200 games, it will most likely be because he is flaming, check this guy to see if there is some legit reason to mute him from typing for like 1 day, 5 games, 12 hours or something like that. As the system is now, u can have been legitimately placed in the pool, and then if some idiot is trolling and reporting u will get more days. Thats not a good system. That system is terrible. They should defintely look into the ideas of yours, or just MANUALLY look the most major reports through like i stated before, look at those that have been reported 6 times in a game (then there may be a reason for them to do it), look at those that has over 50 reports during a period of time, there will also be a reason for that, and then leave those people only carrying with 5-6 reports alone as it may have been for something minor like "noob" or a report from a troll or something. I just really want Valve manually to check the reports through of the most important reports instead of just having a system do it because the other option is too time consuming. The system now sucks so bad, do something about it, do something about it now.
I agree with your suggestion about Valve should concentrate on people who get reports from several matches constantly. Although I understand that manual validation of reports is highly problematic because more than 1 000 000 games are played a day and if only 20% has reports in it, it is still an unmanegable amount.

Vuk - Thats why i said ONLY look at those people with a high amount of reports instead of looking at every single report. If some1 has gotten 15 reports after playing 1000 games, then leave him alone, dont bother with the reports it may just be something minor, so no point wasting times on looking these 15 reports through. But if someone has 30 reports after 5 games, there may be a reason to it, and this is where i believe they should look into the reports manually (maybe just look at 1 or 2 of these reports to see if its valid) instead of having an automatic system in which u can get extra days in LPQ even if u have done nothing.
I was in lpq 2 times, because 1 I abandoned and second Dota2 crashed. Valve have made a few ( ~5 ) bans from my reports, but I havent been in lpq because of reports from other, but they are saying that they are reporting.
Commends do not help. I have a total of 650 (about) commends if u add all up, and i constantly get a day in LPQ if im reported.
Its actually hard to get into the pool, but if u are there, and u get reported furthermore u will keep getting additional hours added on, and thats the whole problem about it.
And while creating this thread, i just got another 2 days because of nothing. Nothing. Fuck this shit, its so stupid.

I got reported by our support russian hero because i farmed jungle while they were in the middle of a team fight, i managed to win the game but i still got another day in lpq just because of this idiot reporting, and he fed on purpose. He was 1-14 and called me a dicksucking cunt and i was like "k" i just ignored it, but still i got a day just if he decides to report... Level 25 with 17-5-6 with troll, he was 14, and no wards, meka or pipe or any support items. Fuck the system.

and i know i got some reports ( usually happens when you play with a premade team of 3-4ppl and end up loosing because they allways blame the random)
I have well over 1000 games and never LPQ. People have been mad at me for their own stupid reasons. I have criticized plenty. I have even solo qued a couple times into a 4 man stack of trolls, who tried to get me killed all game while saying how nub I was and how I was feeding. My own brother even reported me because I got into it with a game ruiner on our team and he hates conflict. None of these things are ever bad enough or common enough for so many reports that I go to LPQ.
If you are in LPQ a lot it is because you piss off multiple people most every game you play. The automated system is just lines of code. It does not know you, it does not hate you. The fact is you create new enemies for yourself every game you play. That is why you get into LPQ.
Now once you are in there, you will be stuck with a full team of people like you. People who ks, people who flame, people who intentionally feed, people who screw with the courier, people who are easily irritated and tend to throw temper tantrums...THESE PEOPLE will report you again at the slightest provocation and keep you in there even longer. Don't piss them off. Compliment them. Save them from dieing if you can. Buy the chick. Buy the wards. Make them happy so when they are sulking and whining as THEY do every game, they will not think you need another report.

The problem is, NOW that i have been placed there, i cant get out if i play a game, because that will give me additional days everytime. Like in the previous game, i carried the team to victory, we had top racks and mid racks because of me, so what i did was to go to the jungle to farm a bit more since 2 of our allies were dead i didnt feel like we could participate in a team fight right now. Then when our Crystal Maiden and Witch Doctor initiated for some odd reason, they obv. got killed and i was in the jungle. So this guy pings me like madness and goes "fuck u noob. report this fuckhead"
And that just gave me another day in the pool.

Some poor inner city kid tries to stay straight in a neighborhood full of crime. But he has no friends, his school and home enviornment sucks so his future is limited, and simply not participating in crime is even dangerous since guilty people don't like potential informants and (if they were honest with themselves) just feel a lot more guilty if someone near them is not!

Who cares! Do what you have to do to get out. Buy extra salves or an urn, heal people, stack up a camp and tell them you did it for them to farm..MAKE them like you. Don't ask for commends, just know when they are deciding who to blame for how they sucked again...it won't be you.

PPl report you at 1 min for no reason. The dota "gods" just hate you, and love me. That must be why countless reports vs almost none....yeah, that must be it.
The fact is I play to win every game. Even when there are tons of early disc. My record in No Stats Recorded games is 46-22. Reality is this, only a tiny, tiny handful of people are effectively best motivated to improve by screaming at them...besides those few people... negative encouragement has to be in a bizarre, controlled environment like army boot camp, and backed up with lots of positive stuff like camaraderie elsewhere. In a game where people joined to have fun, pretty much 100% only positive encouragement will change their behavior. And if they can't change it (ie they just suck) complaining is certain to make them play even worse.
So if you REALLY play to win. You would try to make people happy, even if you don't care about them at all.
On a side note, because I enjoy being long winded...prisons are not intended to fix or help criminals. They are intended to keep them from being able to hurt normal productive people. But if for whatever stupid unfair reason you end up in punishment you can only have any hope of fixing it by accepting it, submitting, swallowing pride, etc...When the cops pull you over, you don't improve the situation by telling them what you think about your rights...you fix it by being submissive, calm, cooperative. If you are truly falsely accused you have to use legal channels and show all respect for the law possible to escape, not look for a jail break plan.
This is not a home invasion by a rapist murder, a bully on the play ground, or crazy terrorists on an airplane. Some people are out to hurt you and can only be deterred by force. No, this is just some ordinary random dota players.
The law makes mistakes, but its not trying to do so. Its just a system...a system designed to enforce compliance and conformity for the sake of safety and general public happiness against the few who threaten these conditions. Give the law what it wants and get it to climb off your back voluntarily. You are not big enough to throw it off. These principles apply in life, not simply dota.

I played a game, did a "weird" build (which I think is much better than the default dota build that all the pubs seem to think is the only thing to do) everyone rages at me, starts flaming me, I get a little annoyed and rage back but the majority of the rage is directed at me. I realize they are a 4 stack and stop saying anything. They decide all 4 of them are going to report me...
I carry the game, we win. At the end they all say "GJ but youre still reported".
That's issue 1. Stacks all report you.
Solution? No reporting until game is over. Why would this matter? Because then you only report people who pissed you off so much you still remember them at the end of the game.
didn't read your wall of text but i've had games where the 9 other ppl said they were gonna report me and i've never been put in LPQ EVER, only if I abandoned. BUT, I was stuck in normal MMR when I should have been in High MMR so I think reports lower your MMR if you get alot of them, even though valve says it doesn't. But we all know they like to bs.
Also there is probably good reason your getting LPQ.. I've had alot of reports against me and never had any of the shit your saying happen to me. You probably deserved it you seem like a troll who just plays to ruin games, 6-11 record in NOOB MM out of those 17 games you had one good game, all the other gmaes you feed. 1-19, 1-20.. its obvious your just a troll and only ruin games. This report system is such a big joke. Its really embarassing. Ive created 6 accounts now to see how the system reacts to certain things, how it reacts to feeding, how it reacts if you leave, how it reacts if you do both, how it reacts if you flame. On my main account i have managed to get 10 days in the LPQ, it started out as 6 hours i believe for saying "Noob russian", and then i just grinded some random hours where i didnt say ANYTHING, i dint say a word, but still managed to be sitting 1 day in LPQ. Then when i played every now and then and i ended up on noob teams making stupid shit i would maybe say like "idiot" when they did something stupid, like nyx using stun before hitting with his invisibility where im just completely facepalming, or pudge hooking ally when chasing someone. By doing this, i keep getting 1 day extra every time i say anything. If i say idiot, if i say russian, if i say noob i get another extra day in LPQ, how retarded of a system is that?
Ok, so i was like: Maybe i am the idiot here for calling other people "idiot" or "russian" or "noob" when they do something bad, so i was like: I will try and not say anything when i play anymore, and then eventually i will just be polite whenever i decide to type something. So i did this. I queued up with 4 russians, i didnt say anything, i had 7 days in LPQ. I ended with like 11-6-19 stats with Earthshaker, but then when they were pushing the racks and we were about to lose the game, i was the only one that just managed to survive with like 150 hp, so all the guys on my team said: "Cyka xaxaxaxaxa report sheker xaxa ebanay 6ny" the Radiant team were like "why report him, ure the one that fed us, not earthshaker" but i got reported by these 4 russians and got another extra day in LPQ? WHAT THE FLYING FUCK? For what? I didnt break any of the 4 rules listed; feeding, text abuse, voice abuse or ability abuse. None of them. And i get another day. Lmao, this system is so pathetic.
Valve have even said that their system is automatic, which means; if u get enough reports, and u end in lpq, and u get even more reports they will keep adding more days/hours onto the time in which you are in lpq.
So i decided to test it, with one of my other accounts i stacked with 4 other mates, my friend got 24-1-12 but we reported him for all 4 rules to see if that would get him in the Lpq; and it did xD He got one day in lpq for doing nothing but for owning, for playing good as hell, for teaching other how to play dota, for supporting us, for protecting us, for carrying us, for guiding us, for being a sick as hell good player he gets punished just because Valve are so lazy to do anything about their report system.
Also, if i create a new account, i intentionally feed and leave the game, thats all i do. I will get 6 hours in LPQ for ruining it this way, as my team will lose all possibilities of winning when the opposing team has 40 free kills. This way, i get 6 hours in lpq (if i get reported...). If i on my main account say "noob player" and i get reported for it, i will get 1 day in lpq if i already have 2 days. How stupid is that? Im in no way hurting our chances of winning by writing noob player or by writing noob russian or anything like that (im doing it so they get aware of the fact that they did something wrong, im not doing it in the right way maybe but im just doing it so they can understand that what they are doing isnt right). So what valve does, is actually punishing someone harder if they text abuse (where u can just mute the player if u dont wanna listen to him???) than they will if some1 intentionally feeds 30 deaths and then leaves the game xDDDDD. I got 1 day in lpq. And i didnt flame, i didnt feed, i didnt abuse my abilities, and i didnt abuse voice.
Lets see if i can qq moarrrr, this system is so retarded its not even fun, because valve are lazy as hell.
For now, i cant even play on my main account. No matter what i do. If i join a game now, if some1 reports me because he is bored or something, i will get another day added on. No matter how nice im treating other people, no matter how good im playing, no matter what. Dendi could be playing on my computer and own as hell, but as long as some1 reports me i will get another day because this system is automatic, its not like they look reports through, they just punish me INSTANTLY by giving me an extra day added on if some1 reports me.
