That list shows the latest matches to complete by match ID. Match ID is assigned at the start of the game, so matches with a short duration are much more likely to appear on the list.
It is still counter intuitive to me. Given short games would clump, I would expect atleast one 30min+ game in the first 20 pages of games.
I always have the same question. I actually downloaded and watched one or two replays and they both ended with player disconnected.

It always confuses me. Why there are so many matches around 5 mins? I don't have so many games but I think I had maybe 2 that were shorter than 10 mins (I even looked it up, I had one game of 10:54, one more shorter than 20 mins - both are around 1% of my games).
I know we have many leavers and so on but from what I can see here http://dotabuff.com/matches almost all games are so short and it feels kinda impossible as one in hundred of my games ends like that.
