id like not to spend all of it on the laptop, maybe i can get a cheaper one and also get an SSD, also ive read somewhere recently asus has some issues with cooling or smth and ppl would rather opt for a lenovo

i was in the same situation as you and bought a laptop for uni 1st year. end up regretting since you will spend alot of your time playing games in your room (atleast it is the case for me). Buy a dekstop instead, with the same budget you can get alot better specs than buying laptop. hope this help

Buy msi, cant tell model i have since i am at work at the moment, but bought it like 2 years ago, still playing all new games on best graphics, cost me around 1,5k eur.

I have a HP Envy 16gb ram 2gb graphics nvidia, cost like $800. Had it for 2 years now, just this month it started overheating but that's because it's old as heck and needs a proper fan cleaning with some new thermal paste I figure. Still runs like a beast for school and play. Sometimes HP will have good deals, if it's full price it's not worth it.

^ I had my old Macbook Pro for a good 5 years before it started having performance issues. And I did a LOT of stuff on it (big data queries and lots of gaming)

ive stumbled across a ROG GL553VE which has a $100 discount and most ppl seem to be happy with it except the hdd, which is even 7200rpm

EDIT: As for cooling, there is this product I very highly recommend. I forget the name. It is shipped from Japan, cheap (cost me about 7 bucks with tax and shipping included), and does more work than my 30 dollar fan stand thing. I will get the name and provide a link for you when I get home.

Asus G is pretty dogshit on many levels, their support is awful, build quality is dogshit and their drivers are trash. There are still people out there who have massive driver issues, which cause a fuckton of problems while never being fixed.
Alienware is one of the better notebooks u can get there, their build quality is decent, temps are fine, drivers are flawless, support is also very good. Only real downside on alienware is the price and maybe the keyboard, it's kinda weird using them in my oppinion.
I had and tested literally every brand of gaming notebook and know pros and cons of every single one, Asus is one of the worse ones.
Asus > Alienware.
I have owned Asus and Acers for years with little to no problems.
But then again, getting parts and building your own PC is better in the long run.
This will be in no particular order, sorry. Take this from someone who went through this.
Buy a Lenovo 100s, $150 absolute shit for everything other than internet, and office stuff...but agreeing with others you will want something that isn't going to distract you by having games on it.
Spend remaining $1250 on a decent desktop which you can use to enjoy games free of anything else...or upgrade an existing PC you own even more.
If you buy a laptop with all that money get high spec off shelf, not high spec from gaming line. Pay for parts, not brand.
If you have to get a gaming laptop they're all the same inside. Asus is Acer but cheaper but still just as good. Dell is Alienware.
Take the below advice as what I would do if I was in your shoes.
1. Buy a small netbook, saves you getting distracted, and "gaming" laptops are heavy, hot, and stupid. Do you want to carry that around with you every day to University? Also power adapters are huge, netbooks don't need power so you wouldn't even need to charge it when leaving for school
2. Upgrade your desktop, home is where the heart is, don't bring your work, or school home. Do it in a cafe where you can focus, occupy less space. Then come home where you have a PC that's your baby.
Message me tomorrow and depending on what you decide I can help you elect a choice. Also remember top end of last gen is as good as mid range of newest gen but at same cost so look around for older models.
Okay the brand is called "yuosong", I bought it on Amazon almost 2 years ago. I cannot find it anymore, not sure why. But just try to look for a laptop "vacuum". Hope that helps.
