Gl man
Setting goals is a key to succeeding in something.
I might use similar plan to this.
Slow and steady
I remember, when I climbed from 2k long time ago, I used something similar with +100 increments per a few days, then I would rest for a day and go for next +100, etc.
3000-3200 was slow, then suddenly 3200-4000 in 3 weeks and then 4000-4700 in a month.
After that I just became unmotivated by how retarded RMM is and forgot about storming 5k. Simply stopped soing that, created this account and was curious, whether I'll be able to reach 4k again, I did (easily) and then I just had a pause and didn't play RMM and here I am now.
New ranked kinda gives me a new incentive.
I also get matched w/calibrated 5-6ks alot in unranked and I don't feel like they're THAT stronger than me, I could get 5th divison badge for sure by last picking Broodmother non-stop.
9. if you fail, increase the amount you wanna reach the week after by whats missing this week
its ok to aim for an amount and never reach it as long as you always try to reach it
Ill take this on board when i start playing ranked.
I like to add what i read somewhere
10. If you haven't played for a few days play a unranked game or two before jumping into ranked.
Whats your Plan B if im 12k carry Player 2k on all other roles and 4 k russian dog thinks He can carry me?
^fair question. i dont always have the position i want. all my strongest heroes are in that position. So if I play something else for that game where an adamant person refuses to give up his lane, I forgive myself for losing that match? :P
Some points are really bad and make little sense. What if you achieve +100 MMR in a single day? Do you take a 1-week break? After 1 week break, you will play like shit. What does PMA mean? If you want to really grind MMR, you need to make some drills like learning to last hit in an empty lane, looking at the map every creep you hit, playing some games that enhance reflex, practice micro etc. That's the best way to get better at Dota. Psychology is really important, but nothing beats the actual skill. You should also ask yourself why do you want to play this game. Is it for fun? Do you want to go PRO? Do you want to have higher MMR or just be better at it? etc. When you're setting a goal, it's important to fully understand why you want to achieve it and when you considered it as being achieved.
the idea is good and all, but it won't work.
it doesn't matter if you play 10 games to get +250 mmr or if you play 1000 games to get +250 mmr
the only thing that matters is that you play like a XYZ mmr player so you can reach XYZ mmr
@HartzFear
I don't play carry. I don't care.
If someone were to contest offlane, I'd ask, whether we can dual lane or I would pick Spirit Breaker roaming Pos. 4.
I would try my best to convince the player to give me solo lane last pick, though.
If Spirit Breaker is banned/picked, I'd go roaming Pos. 4 Night Stalker/Slardar.
@GAME OF PATIENCE
If I were to achieve 100 MMR in a day, I would take a 2-3 days ranked break or so and start the next week.
"Week" in this case is not a Monday to Sunday one, but just a period of 7 days, which you can start from whichever day you'd like to.
I could analyze every lost game from a point of significant mistakes made. In fact I did just that, when I actively played ranked.
I have a subjective-value goal.
@Scarified so what even you reach 6k with brood ? you will be only 6k with that hero and suck with the rest.Thats not healthy if you want to improve in dota 2.
I don't like most heroes in Dota.
I don't play heroes I don't like.
I want to gamble myself up to as high as I can, playing what I like to play.
Nothing less, nothing more.
Okay bro,but when i played vs you on my other acc,i was slark, you were bm,i would give you max 3.5k mmr or less.
^the lord has spoken. Give up Paul Gilbert (I assume thats where you got the name?) , you will not reach beyond 3.5. No point making plans when ceiling has been decided haha. What wankers in this forum man.
1. Play a maximum of 4 games in a day, only solo queue RMM.
Makes sense because you're more likely to tire and play bad when you play too much.
2. If any 2 of these 4 are losses, you instantly stop playing and go do something else.
Agree. You're more likely to tilt when losing and under pressure to win.
4. Play only 3-5 heroes on one position, which you know very well and have a plan for everything in the game. Only your "strongest" heroes.
Agree. Don't be a jack of all trades but master of none.
6. If you can't handle the toxicity, you don't distract yourself, but mute all chat. You don't reply.
Strongly agree if under 5k, where communication only makes things worse.
7. Set a goal of like "+100 RMM points this week".
Unrealistic. This will work only if you're in a bracket lower than your current skill level. More realistic to gain 100 MMR per month.
I climbed from 3.5k to 4.5K in a month or so. Now I'm stuck because I need to improve beyond this bracket.
8. Upon getting +100 that week, you stop playing ranked for the rest of it, until the next one.
Unnecessary. If you won 4 games in a row, you shouldn't stop playing just because you're up 100 MMR.
Same as stentorian said... agree with everything but 7 and 8...
When the new mmr arrives, i do the 1 to 6...
Wont start now just beacause college shit..
sounds good to me. I have always lived by the stop after 2 losses rule. I broke it the other day unfortunately and lost a 150+ gain on a bad losing spree.
sounds good, limiting the amount of games you play per day is definitely a good way to not lose horrendous amounts of mmr or go +-0 after playing 20 games in a day

3. You start only the days you feel you can do it.

5. PMA all the way through every match.

8. Upon getting +100 that week, you stop playing ranked for the rest of it, until the next one.
9. If you fail, set "+100 in next two weeks". All other rules remain the same.
10. Perpetually repeat.
Does this sound legitimate?
New ranked excites me and I will try doing this after dealing with the university issues.
+100 could be +200, depending on how you feel @ your bracket, but the general idea would remain the same.
