i doubt there is a correct answer. You should find one hero that you like playing, and practice normal games until you have 55 percent winrate with him. Then head to ranked and first pick him every game. The rarer the hero the less chances of him being banned, and the more chances that the enemy wont have experience dealing with him. It does not matter what the metagame is, really. It keeps changing, so I wouldnt worry too much about it. By the time you learn the intricacies of the meta hero, there will be a new meta hero to take its place.
Don't look for one particular hero because when they nerf it, you will also drop. Just try to get better at the game. The easiest way is probably properly supporting or outplaying enemies in the lane (outcsing & outfarming). Also there is an additional factor - your behavior score, if it's low, you should do everything to improve it because it has a big impact on your games.

Off from a 3 month break. I just stumble to know what is the most efficient way to win MMR games. Is it through playing your best heroes, counter picking? Im a 2.2k mmr player and my goal is to reach 3k. Any tips could help thanks guys
