Please just practice. I hate Invoker as a hero and anyone who plays him on the enemy side anyway.
When you pick Invoker, you must consider your teammates pick and what enemies picking of. Its actually a very hard hero if you never played it before in Dota 1 scene, but if you practice that hero(in bot match) you'll soon enough understand how to use it well.
My tips for you, practice your mind first for remembering the spell, combo and even the damage type. Then you can play it well.

@bws i play high skill cap heroes bcz when u learn them they actually feel rewarding rather than learningt a braindead hero like pa or bloodseeker
you cant climb to the last floor without going by the 1st ones , learn how to macro (how to do what when why) , how to control your lane perfectly , playing easier heroes is a way more efficient when focusing about the basics , every single hero will shows you a different aspect of the game , and after you understand every aspect of the game you WILL do great on invoker because he is the hero that utilize all this combined game knowledge (lane-match ups-team fights-split push-roshan) to do his job
you will not feel rewarded when losing or when you get carried
You actually can climb to the last floor without going by first one by using gameshark. Back then i raised my mmr from 2700-3700 by spamming invoker and i just learn combos from pro's play and memorizing them to my mind
My first ranked with invoker, i only use quas wex i just got obetter eventually,
But ofc lasthitting, deny, when to push, when to fight or farm are things that u need to master first

JUST KNOW INVO LIMIT AND POWER
There's just so many aspects about high skill cap heroes you're never gonna learn playing at Low mmr. No you won't get better by mastering a hard hero in Low mmr. First cuz u wouldn't be mastering the hero. Youd just be learning all sorts of bad habits and get goood at executing bad Low mmr plays.
